Q: I want to book, how can I do this?

Excellent! You can book easily through this website, simply choose your dates and follow our quick and easy online booking form. You’ll receive confirmation that your chosen dates are available and your booking has been approved.

 

Q: What time can I check-in to the apartment?

Check-in is anytime daily from 3 pm. We may be able to offer a slightly earlier check-in time, however this is subject to availability and can’t be confirmed until the day.

 

Q: What time is check out?

Check out is by 11 am thanks.

 

Q: Can I leave my luggage at the apartment before check-in/after check out and collect later in the day? 

This isn’t a service that we offer as our cleaners need access to the apartment on your departure to prepare for the next guests’ arrival. St Andrews Square bus station offer secure luggage storage service which will allow you to expolore Edinburgh  ag free before check-in/after check out. It’s a service highly recommended by many of our guests.

 

Q: Can I check in early/check out late?

During busy periods or in the instance of same day check in/check out’s we are unable to offer this as our cleaners need time to prepare the apartment to the highest possible standards for the next guest’s arrival. In some cases, we may be able to offer this but we cannot always guarantee availability. Please contact us as we will do our best to accommodate where possible.

 

Q: What is the minimum number of nights that I can rent the apartment for?

We have a minimum stay requirement of 2 nights. Check out availability and book your stay today.

 

Q: Who do I contact if there is a problem during my stay?

We’ve put together a comprehensive guide to the apartment which will help you navigate your way around the flat and gives simple instructions for all the main appliances. There are also contact details for several of our team who will be more than happy to assist you should you have any further questions during your stay. In addition, for less urgent enquiries, you can contact us via the contact form on the website.

 

Q: Can my dog stay in the apartment with me?

We know how much your furry friends mean to you which is why we allow 1 well-behaved dog to stay with their responsible owners for no additional cost. Please make sure your pets are supervised at all times and that dogs are kept on a lead within the communal hallway area so as not to disturb our neighbours. Edinburgh is a very dog-friendly city, all pubs and restaurants that allow them have a dog sticker on their door. There is also the nearby Canal or Princes Street Gardens, both within a 10-minute stroll that are ideal for dog walks. Our city guide can provide you with more details on outdoor areas that would be perfect to visit with your furry friend. Please make us aware at the time of booking that a dog will be joining you. *Owners must bring dog beds/dog bowls etc…this won’t be provided.

 

Q: Can I smoke in the apartment?

Under no circumstances is smoking (including the smoking of e-cigarettes) allowed within the apartment, out of the windows, or in the communal hallway area. Smoking is only permitted outside on the street. Should we find that you have been smoking within the apartment during your stay you will be asked to leave. Or in the instance that we discover you have been smoking after you check out of the apartment, your entire deposit will be kept as a means of repairing the damage caused. We would like to maintain a high standard within the apartment and keep it clean and fresh for every guest’s arrival. Leaving a smell of smoke prevents us from achieving this goal. We hope you understand and thank you for your cooperation.

 

Q: Can I have a party in the apartment during my stay? 

We do not permit parties, large or small, within the apartment, under any circumstances. Should we find that a party is happening within the apartment during your stay, we will be alerted of this by the neighbours and you will be asked to leave. We have long term residents within the surrounding flats in the building and ask you to respect them by keeping noise levels to a minimum after 10 pm. In the instance that we discover you have had a party after you check out of the apartment, your entire deposit will be kept to clean up any mess and damage caused. If the damage cost’s more than the value of your deposit you will be liable to pay this. – Please respect the apartment during your stay there.

 

Q: Is there central heating that I can use during my stay? 

Yes! A smart meter has recently been installed to allow you to easily control the temperature within the flat at the touch of a button. We have radiators in every room that heat up quickly. You’ll definitely be kept cosy while in the flat. As a side note, Scotland does get chilly, so we recommend you bring a jumper to keep you warm while out and about seeing the sights.

 

Q: Is there free WiFi access in the apartment? 

Yes! We have high speed, fibre broadband installed that allows you to get online quickly in every room of the apartment. Just select our internet from your phone or laptop on arrival and enter the password which will be provided, allowing you to be online throughout the duration of your trip.

 

Q: Do I need to bring my own towels and bed linen?

 A full set of bedding and a large towel will be provided for each guest so no need to bring your own. We also provide a few extras for emergencies. And hand towels and bath mats in each of the bathrooms.

 

Q: Is shampoo and shower gel provided?

We include shampoo, conditioner and shower gel for our guests to use in both shower rooms, so no need to bring your own if you don’t want to. We have also included handwash in the bathrooms and the kitchen.

 

Q: Is there wheelchair access to the apartment?

The apartment is on the 2nd floor of a traditional Georgian tenement building, and can be accessed up 2 flights of stairs from the main entrance hallway. Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchair access as there is no lift, with the building being almost 200 years old. We apologise for the inconvenience.

 

Q: Is the apartment in a central location?

Located on Morrison Street just off Lothian road, a main street filled with quirky cafés, bars and restaurants we are in the perfect location to explore Edinburgh with excellent amenities right on your doorstep. The apartment is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Edinburgh castle, The Royal Mile, The Grassmarket and Princes Street as well as hundreds of bars and restaurants in Edinburgh city centre. Please refer to our City Guide for more insight into the best things to see and do throughout your stay.

 

Q: Is there free parking onsite?

Unfortunately there is no street parking, being in such a central location, but excellent secure parking facilities can be found in 3 different multi-storey car parks less than 5 minutes’ walk from the flat, should you wish to bring your car. If you can avoid driving, we would thoroughly recommend it as parking is expensive and the public transport services in Edinburgh are world class, particularly the bus service. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can advise on the best place for you to park during your stay should you wish to bring a car.

 

Q: What’s the best way to get to the apartment when I arrive in Edinburgh?

Access to the flat from Haymarket train station is only a short 9-minute walk, up a gradual slope, along Morrison Street to arrive at the front door. Likewise, if you are travelling by bus or tram from the airport, you can get off at Haymarket and follow the same route. The airport bus is the number 100. Both the bus and the tram are frequent, leaving every 15 minutes and arriving in the centre of Edinburgh approximately 20 minutes later. Contact us should you need advice on the best transfer options for your arrival.

 

Q: Is there a hairdryer provided?

Yes! We actually have two hair dryers in the flat, so no need to bring your own if you don’t want to. We’ve also included lot’s of other little extras to help you feel at home.

 

Q: Do you accommodate group bookings?

Yes! We cater for groups large and small and can comfortably sleep up to a 10 people. We have 8 beds split across 3 bedrooms.

 

Q: Do you accept Edinburgh Festival bookings?

Yes! During Edinburgh’s festival season, the city centre is THE place to be, so having all the attractions right on your doorstep means you won’t miss a thing. We cater for groups large and small, so however many people are in your party we have a bed for you. During the Fringe, Edinburgh’s population triples, so we recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment. We offer competitive prices so you can guarantee that you’ll be paying the best price in town for exceptional accommodation. After a jam-packed day of comedy, culture, music and entertainment, The Tartan Stag is the perfect place to come home to relax and recharge before continuing your Festival adventures the very next day. Q: I’m travelling for business, does the apartment have a desk?

Yes! We have a desk area in each of the three bedrooms where you can work from. We also have a large 50 inch TV in the living room which is ideal for preparing for presentations. On top of this, we offer high-speed fibre internet throughout the apartment, which we realise is so vital to running a business. The apartment is ideally located beside Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) as well as Edinburgh’s financial district. The Tartan Stag is in a prime location for guests staying for both business and pleasure.

 

Q: Can you provide recommendations on the best things to see and do during our stay?

We have put together an online city guide to help you prepare for your trip so you won’t miss a thing. We also have a paper copy of this guide within the apartment that will give you advice and top tips on the best places to visit/eat/drink/socialise etc during your stay. If you have any questions that aren’t covered in the guide then please do just ask. We’d be happy to help.

 

Q: Do you have an iron and ironing board?

Yes! We have both an iron and ironing board that is at your disposal throughout your stay.

 

Q: Do you have a washing machine and dryer that I can use?

Yes! We have a washing machine and provide detergent capsules. We also have a drying rack whereby clothes can be hung up to dry. We kindly ask that you leave this in the bathroom and open the window slightly to prevent damp. Alternatively there is a laundrette around 2 blocks away.

 

Q: Is the apartment child-friendly?

Yes! Our apartment is large and spacious with multiple bathrooms and versatile bedroom set up, so perfect for families. We have a travel cot available for babies, as well as a high chair and a changing mat. In the instance that you are travelling with a baby, we would like to note that we’re located on the 2nd floor of a traditional Georgian tenement building, so we do not have a lift and access to the flat is up 2 flights of stairs. We hope this information helps you prepare for your stay. We do have books/DVD’s and games that are age appropriate for children.

 

Q: Do you allow stag and hen groups to stay at the apartment?

Yes, we cater for groups large and small including stag and hen groups, but we insist that you notify us of this before booking. We have the same ground rules as any type of accommodation, so as long as you treat the apartment as you would your own home then we are happy for you to stay. We don’t allow parties within the apartment and we have long term residents within the surrounding flats in the building so, for this reason, we ask you to respect them by keeping noise levels to a minimum after 10 pm.

Edinburgh is a great city for stag and hen parties, with so many fun activities and the friendly, sociable nature of Scottish people means we can guarantee that you’ll have a good time. The last place you’ll want to be is in the flat when there’s literally an entire city full of really cool bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Q: Is your apartment in a good location for the rugby at Murrayfield?

Yes! Our apartment is centrally located so is in the perfect location for the Rugby, or any sporting event, as we are surrounded by fantastic transport links. We thoroughly recommend that you take the tram (the nearest stop is a short 5-minute walk away) as this will get you to Murrayfield within 10 minutes. …or if it’s a nice day then you should definitely walk. The stadium is only 30 minutes away on foot with lot’s of pubs to stop off at along the way. After the game, the apartment is in an ideal location for all the other attractions that Edinburgh has to offer with bars, restaurants, nightclubs and all the main sights right on your doorstep.

 

Q: Are meals included within my stay price?

Sorry – We are not a hotel or B&B there for sadly we cannot offer meals. There will be endless amounts of tea and coffee well stocked in the kitchen as well as basic condiments. We also have a fully functioning kitchen with everything you could possibly need to make a meal and a supermarket across the road to buy food from, as well as several others within a 5-minute walk.
